I was really excited when Tracyanne Campbell from Camera Obscura signed to 4AD asked me to design the new album cover for My Maudlin career which came out recently. She’d seen some of my other stuff I had done, including the work I did for Island Records and Attic Lights.
Tracyanne knew what she wanted and had an idea already of the sort of elements she wanted to include in the cover. It was quite a move away from Camera Obscura’s earlier covers as it was an illustration and everything prior to this album was always photographic. So to ease the transition a little bit we thought it would be best to keep the main image a portrait in keeping with the previous covers.
